MP of Nyali constituency Mohammed Ali has revealed names of companies and people who are being left out by the investigative agencies for the disappearance of money from the National Youth Service.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Office of Public Prosecutor are investigating the theft of Ksh 9 billion.The Nyali MP wants senior government officials, and business people being ignored by the media and investigators to be investigated.
In 2015,ksh 691 million was also stolen from the youth service when Governor Ann Waiguru of Kirinyaga was the Cabinet Secretary of Devolution.Mohammed Ali wants her investigated alongside Ben Gethi who is a petroleum businessman as well as an influential media owner.
Another businessman to be investigated according to Ali is Evans Gor Semelang’o.Semelang’o is said to have supplied fuel worth 60 million to NYS through PetroKenya Oil Limited,a company he co-owns with Peter Gathecha who is the uncle of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Gor Semelang’o is a friend of President Uhuru Kenyatta since 2002 when he first ran for presidency.Gor coordinated putting up Uhuru Kenyatta’s posters in Kibera and other parts of Nairobi.He holds a Masters degree from Utrecht University of Netherlands.
In 2016 Gethi was charged with stealing 791 milion from NYS.He allegedly received ksh 585 million in collaboration with other officials of the Devolution ministry.He is believed to have bought properties with the money he got from NYS in 2016.These are:
A plot worth 45 million in Muthaiga North.
A plot worth 35 million in Thika.
A 63 million hotel-Eden Times Restaurant on Moi Avenue in Nairobi.
A plot worth 63 million in Rosslyn Estate,Nairobi.
Kenyans expect a lot to be done by all agencies investigating the dissapperance of large amounts of public funds and the perpetrators brought to book.
